My week... just a bunch of random suff...

Sunday, February 28, 2010

It's been quite a busy week around here... just thought I'd catch you up.... This is all rather boring... I'd forgive oyu if you just stop reading now... in fact I might even respect you a little bit... alright.. I warned you!

Sunday: The girlies came home from their youth weekend... exhausted but on cloud nine... you can see some picks here... We also got the sad news that my step-mom's sister had died. She had been suffering from scleroderma for awhile now and we knew she didn't have long. The end came quick and although that was merciful for her, it didn't give those she left behind much time to say goodbye. What a day of emotional ups and downs...

Monday: I woke up with a migraine so I missed the homeschool support group meeting I had been looking forward to. I am speaking next month... the topic... home organization... (stop laughing)... I have been organized in the past, and can't really organize this house... it's not mine... I'm hoping it's a "those who can't do, teach" kinda thing... we'll see.... I'll keep you updated.
Later that afternoon I met with the girls on the homeschool prom committee for the homeschool senior class. We finalized some of the prom details so we could start selling tickets. Rushed home around 5:30.. quickly cooked dinner... Got ready to go to bed around mid-night and of course this is when Sparky decided it was time to have a heart to heart... I decided to seize the opportunity, but it meant I didn't go to bed until 2:30... (I'm getting too old for this...)

Tuesday:  Woke up at 4:30 AM (yes... 2 hours sleep...) to ride to Nashville to take my Step-Mom to the airport. Dropped the Axeman off at work and came home to finish preparing for the two classes I was teaching later that afternoon at our homeschool co-op. (drank about 4 large cups of coffee) Stopped at Starbucks on the way to co-op... taught grade 12 economics and helped out in Biology... I was supposed to help them dissect a worm, but I mostly just tried to keep all that coffee down while the person who was supposed to be assisting me took the lead... She was my hero! (It wasn't that it "looked" gross... it was the smell...) We left there... picked up the axeman from work... dropped off homeschool graduation paperwork to three families... came home... cooked dinner... and fell asleep... (I didn't even have the energy left to eat...I am too old for this..)

Wednesday: We didn't get much school work done Monday or Tuesday so today we did a marathon of schoolwork... I do not want to fall behind this year! In the late afternoon we took a break to run to a local consignment shop looking at prom dresses. No luck on the dresses, but the girlies did find other things they wanted... of course... I ended up getting Sparky a button down shirt from American Eagle  for $4.00 and Cate a pair of gap jeans for $6.00... The girlies had youth group so we ran home, Sparky took a biology test while I cooked dinner... we fed the axeman, but we ran out of time so the girlies and I decided to eat later...and we were off... I got home around 8:45... downed some lasagna... watched some Olympics and vegged...

Thursday:  I overslept... I guess when you run on fumes for days that is what happens... and when you have teens, they just keep sleeping. I kinda miss the days when they would wake me up early... kinda... Anyhow we had a lot of school work to get done before I took Sparky to her PE class at 12:30. This class, like everything else these days is on the opposite side of town from us so it takes 30 minutes to get there and since she will be there for two hours I usually try to fill my time, rather then try to go back and forth... I had Cate with me so we ran to a couple consignment shops... no luck... we may need to bite the bullet and buy new... (Anybody have any prom dresses you are willing to part with cheap?... modest ones... Hey, it was worth a shot...) Next we went to Wal-mart... the nice, sparkly, remodeled one... I can never find anything in there... From there we hit the dollar store for some cheapo craft supplies... Then Sonic for some "happy hour" half price drinks. That took... 45 minutes... (are you kidding... that's it... when did I become so efficient?) So we went and sat for an hour and fifteen minutes waiting for her class to end... oh the stuff I could have been doing... I did get a god chance to catch up with Cate then some of the other moms as they arrived... From there we rushed home, I cooked dinner, I watched some Olympic figure skating and worked on designing the prom tickets and other homeschool teen group promotional materials until I couldn't keep my eyes open another minute...

Friday: I felt like someone fired a gun and said "and they're off".. what a busy day... We had a busy day planned so we were up early (7 AM.. that's early around here...) to get our schoolwork done... Sparky had a report due and Cate had a math test... neither girl was prepared... ahh the joys of homeschooling. I gave Sparky an extension for the low price of one letter grade and poor Cate got no sympathy... she's in 12th grade after all... she ended up with a low C which isn't bad, but she's a "first born" so she was not happy... sorry kiddo. We needed to get going so Sparky packed up her reading and got the great joy of finishing in the car... don't I make homeschooling seem glamorous? I had a list of errands that filled a page and half of a legal pad.. I was overly ambitious... I got about a third of them done... we went to the library... Target.. Gordon Food Supply... book store... office depo... hobby lobby... papa murphy's... a friend's house to drop of dinner (she broke her wrist... ouch)... back to one of the previous consignment shops for "one more look"... Aldi's...home to cut, number, and put together homeschool prom tickets... eat pizza... run to red box for a movie... then to a friend's house (the same one with the broken wrist) to co-host a teen group movie night...played some overly stupid games... visited with real live grown ups... and drank too much diet coke... (wasn't I supposed to be quitting?)  When I finally dropped into bed at midnight last night I was spent...

Saturday: Had a blissful day with the family... Lunch with my husband... long walk as a family... ahhh what a week...

In between all this I posted daily on here and tried to read my favorite blogs daily... I love blogging...It is like a little vacation in the middle of everything I do... and this girl needs a vacation...

Thanks for listening...

  2. no, sister, you DO NOT miss the kids waking you up early. let me repeat, you DO NOT miss that!!!

the wee ones have begun (again) to end up in our bedroom every morning...i hate waking up to four-year-old feet in my face...so, last night, i heard them all come in at various times (must've been the chocolate i ate around 10 or so) and asked them politely to sleep on the floor. and they did. then they wake up around 6 or so when hub gets up and touch and play with all the "forbidden" stuff (like electronics) that we "hide" in our room. sigh.

i wish they'd just stay in their rooms!

    YOU DON'T MISS THIS.
