Did Ya Miss Me?

Guess whose back...

One day last fall after the engagement party I sat down to edit the pictures from said party and got so overwhelmed I thought, "I'll do this tomorrow"... That was in October... Whoops... I never did get those pictures edited, and since I felt obligated to do that post next I just stopped posting... How crazy is that? In all fairness my life hit fast forward at that same time and I have spent the last two and a half months running to just get the next thing on my list done. Few things have been done early and lots of things were done late or without the usual attention to detail I like to have... It was a busy season! So much has happened since last we talked I don't know where to start... I guess where we left off?

The engagement party (of which you may never see pictures) was... well, ok... I really hope it doesn't set the tone for the wedding. I think my expectations were pretty high, perhaps too high, but realistically, it wasn't my best party ever. I'm sure on the surface it was fine, but anything that could go wrong, did. We planned to have it outside in the yard. We knew it would be cool, so we planned to do a bonfire and keep it casual... Because It had rained the day before the ground was soaked so we had to set it up in our driveway (not the most attractive part of our yard by a long shot!) I had spent days decorating the front and side yard with straw bales, corn stalks, pumpkins, ect... I hollowed out  50 gourds, drilled holes in them and suspended them from tree branches to be lit on the night of the party... Alas the ground was as wet as a sponge and muddy... The rental chairs were sinking in it and so at the last moment a couple hours before the party we were forced to move everything we could to the drive way... Almost all my decorating was lost in the dark where it wasn't seen by anyone. To top things off, one of Jed's family friends decided to take it upon herself to do a presentation to the couple in the form of an "engagement survival kit" she put together for them. When people reminisce about that night they don't talk about the heartfelt prayer that were offered up to them, the song a friend of theirs so beautifully sang in their honor, not even the food is what comes to mind... Nope, it's when she presented them with a box of condoms in front of their pastor... Yep, that is what people remember. I think I remember why I didn't want to tell this story in pictures now...

So much more has happened, but I don't want to overwhelm you on my first day back... I've missed you guys tons and hopefully you will forgive me for disappearing again... I did resolve to take time for myself and write here at least once a week... We will have plenty of time to get caught up!

Love you guys!

Thanks for listening,

  2. I'm so glad you're back! I was going to send you an e-mail but I figured you were as busy as I was. That totally stinks about the party..especially "the gift" I'm sure the wedding will be great and if it's not she'll think it was anyway and that's truly what matters. I'm happy you're back...I've been praying for all of you.

Sorry about the soggy weather and your seemingly wasted efforts.
    That is a bummer.
I bet the wedding will be awesome, despite a little awkwardness from the engagement party! :)
