Crawling Out Of The Vacuum...

Saturday, February 25, 2012

Blog stats are driving me crazy... I never used to think about them, but now I look at them several times a week, and it ain't pretty folks... I average over 100 views per post, but I average only 4 comments... I feel like I am yelling into a vacuum... I try to inspire comments, you know, by asking questions and such, but to no avail. I wrack my brain... Am I boring? Am I not writing about interesting topics? Is it because I have randomly disappeared twice now? Am I really this pathetic? Then I realised, I too am part of the problem... There are about 20 blogs I visit almost daily, and a list of over 80 more I pop in on when I have a few moments... I love each of these blogs, but I only comment about 1/3 or less of the time... No more... We take the time to write these posts, all of us for various reasons, but we all want to know someone is listening...
And I am listening... I've prayed for Tate's surgery... I tried to listen to Sherri's radio broadcast... I cried over Joyce's "frontdoor" post... I continue to pray for 'licious's father... I am continually inspired by Mandi... I've cried and rejoiced with Edie... Taylor has made me laugh so hard milk has come out of my nose... I am continually frustrated that Carrie rarely updates her blog and each time she does she is half the size of the last time (you go girl!)... I love hearing Katie's classroom antics... I wish Nina was the little sister I never had... Am enjoying following Dawn on our similar journey to the alter with our daughters... The list goes on and on... But the "lurking" has to stop...
Today I am crawling out of the bloggy vacuum and committing to commenting when I visit. Even if I just say "Hi" I want you to know I took the time to pop over and see what's new with you. Every one of you bloggy friends (both those named above and those of you I ran out of time to name today) make my life richer because you share a part of your self with me... Some of you are "big time bloggers" and don't need my shout-out or comment (since you get hundreds) and some of you are like me who get very few... It doesn't matter... I am committing today to comment every time I visit... Be prepared for a lot of un-witty banter and unhelpful advice y'all... You were warned!

Thanks for listening,

  1. I like the way you think :D

I'll try to comment each time I stop by. I tend to check just once or twice a week, so some people have multiple new posts... and may just get one comment :D

But don't feel bad! You have a LOT going on, and there are seasons in life...

  2. WOW!! I feel so loved!!!! <3
I wish you were the big sister I never had!
I love reading your blog & I am so terrible about commenting.
So, hello! Love you! Praying for the wedding preparations, as I wait in anticipation for photos of what will surely be a spectacular event.
ps. I was about 9-ish months pregnant when I read your "I love you... you love me..." post and I came dangerously close to peeing my pants *while* I spewed club soda out of my nose AND mouth.
    Now that doesn't happen everyday.

    1. You are too sweet... And your facebook post made my readers double that day!
As far as the Barney post... I still can't believe I lived that... The girlies are always asking me to tell it... One of these days I'll share the moments that so far are too embarrassing for me to make public!

  4. It's true, most of the comments I get are from people on whose blogs I leave comments and you left one on mine yesterday so . . . here I am. :) I think it would be fun to try my Lent project with a youth group. I'm curious to see if you can talk them into it. I bet you do, kids are better at big gestures and risks than we are.

  5. I love to hear about your family. I admire how you are raising them. I love hearing about the youth group. Now I'm enjoying reading about the wedding plans.
I am introverted and you are obviously not so I live vicariously through you. You are creative and social, full of life and energy. Don't stop writing. I need the ray of sunshine that is your blog.

    1. Thank you for coming by and reading my little blog... You are right, I am not at all introverted but as for "full of life and energy" I think a more accurate description would be "crazy and don't know my own limits"...

  6. I'm sorry I haven't up dated my blog in forever. I've been struggling with an autoimmune disease and it makes me very tired. Once my meds are set I should be good to go! It comes and it goes so I'm usually good for 10 months or so.

I love your writing style, I love your posts. I love reading about your daily life and your kids...but I don't always comment. I do always pray for you and about what I read in your posts. Even when you weren't posting I was checking your blog for when you came back...I was so happy when you did!

I don't have any advice for you to make your posts better because I love whatever you post and I (personally) don't think they need to be better. :o)

  7. I know your frustration very well. I try to jot out a word or two when I skulk by, even if it's only to let you know that I was your TN visitor. My daughter and I looked at your wedding stuff last Saturday. (looking for inspiration.) So there. The vacuum speaks!

I have a reason but let's just chalk it up to laziness. ;-) I think you are awesome and want to support your publicly so I plan to comment often. So much you will get sick of seeing my comments. LOL!
