So did you happen to here we got a little weather up here in Maine last weekend?
Not out typical fall weather that the tourists come to see... No much more winter like then our usual early November chill.
I woke up Sunday morning to about an inch on the ground and I was kind of thrilled... Even if it was early in the season, I love first snows and we never get much and it never sticks... Only this snow kept coming, and coming... Since we had not had a "hard freeze" yet the sap was still running in the trees... Not a good thing. Here are the pictures I took on Monday morning, We had 11" of snow, 20+ trees damaged or down, three of them on our house!
Have a look...
The end of our driveway...
This is a bench that sits out front... I currently had pumpkins and mums on it... I think their time has past for this year...
The first tree that fell was behind our house and hit with such force the top flew into the front yard!
(On a side note, I think the kitchen rug I put over the rail to air out is done airing out...)
Autumn leaves meet winter weather...
Tree #2 hit the front corner and #3 came down in rapid succession, rolling off the house and blocking the bulkhead. This is significant since around that corner is our wood pile. With the tree down in the back, this one in the front and one on the bulkhead there was no way to get to our wood pile when the power went out... Or should I say no easy way. Poor Paul had to climb over that tree in the dark and throw wood over it for him to gather and get the wood stove going... He did this in the dark late Sunday night. Fun huh?
More snow shots...
It sure is pretty though...
We usually get these put away before snow flies... Snow beat us this year!
A view of the end of the house... Quite a night!
(I think it's time to put away the fire pit benches too..)
And here Paul is cutting up next year's fire wood!
Have you had snow yet this year?
Oh no! It sure looks pretty, but no fun to get snow while the leaves are still on the trees. (Happened out here last year and we had LOTS of damage around town.) Is your house okay?
ReplyDeleteThree cheers for Paul, soldiering through all of that to keep the house warm for the family :D And well done, for getting so many gorgeous photos!
Julie
WOW!!!!!!!!! Well, like you say: It IS pretty ... but your poor house took a beating (and maybe your hubby too, trying to get to the wood pile??!). God bless you Northeasterners!!
