Last time we were on Islesboro we stopped by one of the two stores to pick up lunch...

This is what I discovered in the store's only bathroom...

I don't know what was more alarming...

That the sink is "borken"

Or that the guy fixing my lunch washed his hands with generic baby wipes...

Yep... It's the second one!

We registered Sparky in public school yesterday...

She is excited...

I'm sure we have nothing to worry about...

"Too Many Words" Wednesday....

I know it is usually "Wordless Wednesday" but today there are things to be said....

This is the "Two Rivers Business Complex" it contains quite a few businesses and a couple churches including Grace Bible Church... 

A church that a lot of good friends and family attend.

The river crested after this was taken...

It appears at this point it is a total loss...

This flood has left me feeling helpless and speechless...

Apparently the national news feels the same way because the massive destruction in middle Tennessee is barely a blip on the evening news...

If this had happened on a slow news week when there was no oil in the gulf or failed car bombs there would be serious coverage for this disaster...

There would be news crews and national telethons....

Alas, we appear to be on our own...

Since the national news isn't covering this people assume it isn't a big deal.

I had one friend ask me on facebook if this is a big deal or if we get flooding every spring....

I had another ask "Doesn't the Mississippi River flood every couple years?"....

To answer their questions...

No, this doesn't happen every year...

This flood has broken all records...

And we are not on the Mississippi River...

This is the Cumberland River, technically part of the Ohio River Basin...

Most of the businesses lost were little locally owned "Mom & Pop" operations already struggling in this economy...

Many of the homes affected will never be inhabitable again...

That flood water is full of raw sewerage, gasoline and heaven knows what else... (Yuck)

It will take years for Middle Tennessee to recover from this...

But it will recover...

Slowly...

Please pray for the City of Clarksville and all of Middle Tennessee...

Not so Wordless Wednesday...

I have had this horrible stomach virus that is going around...

I haven't been able to get comfortable for the last 24 hours...

 Lying down... sitting up... propped halfway... nothing works...

Then I walk into the family room this morning and see this....

That's just wrong....

I don't think I've ever been that comfortable...

The girlies went to a "youth retreat" style weekend called "Merge" with a youth group they attend....

This is about Sparky...

Sparky came home a different person....

and the same....

she took a leap forward....

She came home so happy.... (not unusual...)

She came home on fire for the Lord....

She came home confident...

She left a little of "my baby girl" behind....

I am happy for her....

Linked Up....

I'm not as charming as I think...

I was thinking about doing a "Wordless Wednesday" post and looking through the photos I had saved up for future posts and came across one that made me laugh out loud all over again. I decided this photo needs some setting up....

This picture was taken last Christmas (yes..I'm nothing if not timely..) at our church's annual Christmas Dinner. We sat across from some friends and were having a really good time. I was really on a roll... I love telling funny stories and making others laugh... and I was in rare form... The couple we were sitting across from were tearing up they were laughing so hard... While we were visiting, a sweet man who is always taking pictures at church events came to our table to snap our picture... he made some comment about how we were "having way too much fun over here.." and we were...

The next week at church Cate told me I should go look at the bulletin board... "there is a really good picture of you and dad on it..." I don't have many good pictures of us together, so on the way to the board I asked the person who took the pictures if I could have the one of the Axeman & myself... "sure" he said... I arrived at the board and this is what I found....

Cute picture of us... but look to the right..

I guess I'm not as funny and charming as I thought...
