Do you remember Larry the Cucumber from veggie tales? He sings a song about his missing hair brush...if you have ever heard this song it is now playing in your head...you can't stop it...

We today I am singing my own version...

Oh why do I homeschool....
Oh why do I homeschool....
Oh why, Oh why, Oh why, Oh why, ...
 Do I homeschool???

I know there are lots of reasons I homeschool and don't mistake the above chorus as an indicator that I no longer want to...I am just frustrated today.

AL had an assignment over Christmas break. She just had to read 1984 and answer 20 questions in essay form... she is in 10th grade, this is not a lot of work for three weeks time.

When we went back to school this past Monday she said she needed an extension. I am no fool (most of the time) and know she had been goofing off a lot lately so I told her yes, but it would cost her 10 points, and was due Friday. That was Monday, by Tuesday she was "still reading" and hadn't even printed up the questions, so I informed her she was grounded from the computer and phone until it was done....fast forward two days to this morning. I asked her if she was almost done?

Here is my side of the conversation...I think you can fill in the blanks

"AL... are you almost done with your reading assignment??

AL?

AL?

AL????

That's it young lady... bring me your book...

I don't care if you are reading it, I want to see what page you are on....

Yes, right now...

I don't care if the cat is comfortable on your lap...

AL IN HERE NOW....

Are you serious...you are only on page 24???

That's it... you are on total lock down until this assignment is done, no TV, computer, phone, cell phone, fresh air.... nothing, do you understand me?

Good...I'm glad I am finally making myself clear, so bring me your math so I can correct it before your test tomorrow.

AL...

your math...

don't tell me.. "

Oh why do I homeschool......

PS... On a totally unrelated topic.... Would the crazy person who keeps sneaking into our home and splashing food on the wall behind the kitchen trash can and leaving it to dry please stop... I have spoken to every member of this household and they are all innocent, so we know it is you.... I may have to fingerprint the little bits of trash you scatter on the floor around the trash can if you keep it up...

  1. Bahahaha! I love this! I mean, I'm sorry you're frustrated...but I KNOW this scene many times over. :) One time my brother dressed up in an old army coat and helmet after a trying math lesson with my mom and declared, "Math is war!" Mind you, he was 16 at the time. :)
