My "I Love Maine" Giveaway...

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

I know I promised to post a giveaway yesterday, but too much went on for me to get on here... I'll tell you more about that later, but for now I'd like to share a little Maine love...

Why, you ask? That's easy, because I am loving being back here... It is not only breathtakingly beautiful, but it is where I am from. I always felt like an odd ball everywhere else we lived (especially in the south)... I was always explaining myself, I never quite fit in and I felt like people kept me at arms length... Even the ones who consider me a friend... It turns out I am not all that odd... I am just a "Mainer"... And I love being home, where I speak the same "language" as everyone else...

Several of you have asked if you can come to visit since I've moved here... And I have usually told you of course you may. I am not opposed to "bloggy" company for the most part, but I know that dropping everything to visit Maine is not always possible, so I decided to put together a little "I love Maine" gift set for you guys... Because you guys have been with me through some tough times this spring, I have felt your prayers and encouragement and this is my little way of saying "Thank you dear bloggy friends."

So with out further ado... Here is what I'm giving away...

One Medium LL Bean "Boat and Tote"

In your choice of colors... go here to look at your choices...

But that's not all...

You will also receive a jar of locally made Maine Maple Syrup...
 from Maine Gold...
(The 250ml size pictured on the left)

"Pat, tell them what else they will receive..."
(sorry.. I loved game shows as a kid...)

A  bag of coffee from our locally roasted coffee...

A one pound bag of "Jet" (the Axman's favorite kind) from Rock City Roasters...

And...

Some Blueberry Jam...

My all time favorite "Wild Maine Blueberry Jam" from the Stonewall Kitchen.

PLUS..

A Maine T-shirt and various other "Maine" souvenirs...
(I'm keeping these a surprise...)

Over all this gift is worth nearly $75.00!!!

How can I do all this you ask?
Drum Roll...

The Axeman got a job!!

I'll tell you all about it later on... but suffice it to say, it is something very different for him and we are all thrilled!

So here is how you enter:

Answer the following Question...

Have you ever been to Maine?
If yes, when and where and if no, do you have any desire to visit and why?

(If you live here just say.. "I'm lucky enough to live here"...)

Just reply by noon (EST)  August 30th
I will do a random drawing and announce the winner on September 1st...
One entry per person... US only please.
(APO addresses are fine)
Please include an email if you don't have a blog so I can contact you!

That's it folks...

Thanks for listening,

PS. All the photos on this post are from the various businesses' web sites...

  1. YUM.

Okay. To answer your question, no, I have never been to Maine...wait! I lied. On my way to Iraq we stopped at an airport there and were greeted by locals. It was amazing--their kindness was wonderful!

But I've never gone there to visit. I have always wanted to go there, I think that it's beautiful! I'm living vicariously through you now :)

xo & thank you for this fabulous, yummy giveaway!

  2. Hi, I found your blog searching for blog giveaways, and I'm so glad I did! First of all, I have never been to Maine. I'm originally from Florida, but I lived in the Pacific Northwest for 26 long years before my husband and I finally moved back to Florida when we retired. I know just what you mean about not feeling right anywhere else. I'd love to enter your giveaway - I'd pick the red and white tote just as it is, and the other things sound great. Oh, and no, I have no desire to visit Maine, though I'm sure it's nice. Now that I'm back in Florida, I'm staying!!!

  7. That bag of stuff looks awesome! Pick me! Pick me! I've never been to Maine. When I think of Maine I think of lighthouses, the ocean and incredibly beautiful autumn colors. Funny, I know it's got to be incredibly cold up there in the winters, but I never think of that.

  11. Super nice giveaway!!!

I've never been to Maine, but I've been wanting to go since my FIL mentioned it. He's never been there but he's dying to go for some lobster. We are big on seafood and well, it looks like Maine is the place for it.

  13. I can't wait to hear about Axeman's new job! Congratulations! I'm so glad that y'all are so happy there. I've never been to Maine, but we'd love to visit there someday. We'd love to see the coast and sample some of the amazing seafood you've featured on this blog. Of course, it would be nice to visit with some friends from church who recently relocated there too. :-D

  14. My husband took me to Maine in late September/early October 2007 as a surprise. I had always dreamed of staying in a Bed & Breakfast on the ocean in Maine and he set up for us to drive there from Michigan (which was surprisingly relaxing and beautiful). We stayed at the Grey Havens Inn on Georgetown Island. We visited Bath, Freeport, Portland and Kennebunkport while we were there. I have never had such an amazing trip in my life and we dream about the next time we can visit. I LOVE Maine!

  15. Oooo! So happy for the Axeman's job... can't wait to hear more about it.

And hallelujah for the not-lost money!

You've got quite a generous pile of goodies, there, so sign me up for an entry :D

I've never been to Maine. Never been east of Wisconsin, to tell the truth. Pictures I've seen remind me of my home state, Washington, on the other end of the country. Looks beautiful :D And I've been a fan of Maine since I was little, thanks to Robert McCloskey.

And, in case I'm lucky, Regatta Blue. ;D

  16. So HAPPY to hear your hubby got a job!!! That's wonderful and so is your give-away. I think I'm too late to enter, but I'll answer your question anyway. :-)

I started going to Maine as a teenager with my family. We never ventured very far into the state though. When I got married, my hubby and I bought our first house in Limerick and we moved about 1 1/2 years later when I was pregnant with my first child. I moved for LIFE, but God had different plans. We lived there for 3 years, moved away so my hubby could go to school, and moved back to Saco. I really love the Northern coast though. Spent my honeymoon in Bar Harbor. I'd buy a big, old house on the rocks overlooking the ocean any day. A big part of my heart will always be in Maine.

Wow, that was like my life story. Sorry!

And YAY for the new job and new adventures. Sometimes "different" turns out to be the best thing ever. Kick all kinds of ass Axeman!

  18. I feel in love with Maine when I went to Portland 8 years ago for my friend's wedding. Actually, their anniversary was yesterday, so I actually departed Maine 8 years ago to the day! Hope to go back sometime!

  19. Really glad to hear about Axeman's new job. YAY! The blueberry jam looks divine! And what a great gift! You are so generous. I was in Maine on a visit with my parents, when I was a little girl, probably around 4 years of age. Don't remember much, do remember eating at a seaside crab restaurant. Blessings to you.

  20. Wow, what a great gift. I have always wanted one of those tote bags. I have never been to Maine but I did go to summer camp in New Hampshire as a kid, so I was close. I have always wanted to see the fall leaves.
    Thanks, Janna

  25. No, but it is my number one place I want to visit. I hate to say this, but I am a big fan of stephen king, and it has made me always want to go there. I think the state sounds like it is a beautiful place to visit. Plus, I am a foodie, and I love the foods that come from there.
