It's Friday so it's that time again for what I'm loving right now...It's brutally hot and humid here in Maine this week so I'm loving eating out...Breakfast is my favorite meal to eat out so here are my five favorite places on the planet to eat out for breakfast... (That I've visited so far...) I'm gonna count these down... I usually just number my five favorites so I can keep track... but this post involves bacon y'all... this is serious stuff...
#5 Shoney's Breakfast Bar...

Shoney's is a southern classic and has been a long time favorite of our family.... It would have got higher billing on this list if the last time I went someone in line ahead of me hadn't sneezed all over the food... I think the food bar needs lower "sneeze guards"...
PS. I went back to my seat and ordered off the menu...
#4 Perkins...

Perkins is a restaurant we used to eat at a lot... I haven't eaten there in years but since it stars in one of the stories that gets re-told again and again in our family it gets a spot...(it is the restaurant mentioned in this post.) Plus I remember clearly that they have awesome blueberry muffins...
3. Rockland Cafe

The Rockland Cafe in downtown Rockland, Maine is one of Paul's and my favorite places to go for a little date... We like to park at the south end of Main St. and stroll down to the other end looking in the shop and gallery windows... We then walk back on the other side of the street hitting the bookstore for a magazine or newspaper... It is as wonderful as it sounds and the food is pretty terrific too... Just pay attention to the "rules" posted on the wall... The locals know them, and visitors are expected to keep up...
#2 Cracker Barrel
Photo: Cracker Barrel Facebook Page
Those of you who know me know this is one of my favorite restaurants in the whole wide world... I love it... And I am sure they are surprised it's not #1... Well, it is close... I love the food... The hash brown casserole is life changing... I love that they serve breakfast all day... I love the little gift shop... And I especially love that they are opening one in Portland, Maine (a mere 2 hours from here) within' days of my birthday this year... (Yes, I will drive two hours for breakfast at Cracker Barrel!)
And my #1...
Whispering Canyon Cafe
Photo: Walt Disney
Yes, I know... don't give me that look... This is truly the best place I have ever eaten breakfast...
They bring you your own personal all-you-can-eat buffet that they put on a lazy susan in the center of your table... We Stayed at the Wilderness Lodge when we visited Walt Disney World several years ago... We ate here daily... It is truly the best, as only Disney can do it!
The food was fabulous... The fruit, divine... The atmosphere, fun... Just don't ask for the ketchup...

Now it's your turn to play along... What are your five favorites this week? It doesn't have to be breakfast... Any theme or no theme is fine... If you do play along, come back here and link up... (and add a link back from your blog)... Just like last week I have a little something for one of you... I know I promised you some Maine maple syrup and that's what you'll get... It turns out the it might not be a previously advertised (if you don't know what I'm talking about... don't worry...) But one lucky linker will receive a jug of real Maine Maple Syrup...
Decided by random drawing... and you must link up by noon Monday.
PS... Last week we had one player so she was the winner... So your odds are really good here!
Ooh that makes me so sad-- we don't have Shoneys here anymore; they all went out of business. Boooo.
ReplyDeletep.s the hubby loves breakfast buffets more than anything (that place at Disneyworld looks amazing)
I LOVE BREAKFAST! Thank you. I will be attending all these places (well, except Shoney's and Cracker Barrel. I've been to CB as many times as I've been to the hairdresser...and I haven't seen a Shoney's in years.) They're on my life list!
ReplyDeleteThe number one restaurant period is Cracker Barrel in our house. Mmmmmmm. Anytime our parent's send us a gift they always include a Cracker Barrel giftcard. Can't beat that food!
ReplyDeleteMmmm, breakfast, it's the best!! I'll be linking up later on!
ReplyDeleteThe world threw every distraction it could muster, but I managed to do your bidding. Finally! I don't know what "link up" means, but I pasted the url below:

If I was supposed to do it another way, send me a note and I'll try to get it right the next time. Oh... and who doesn't love Cracker Barrel? Mmm
