5 Minute Update...

Friday, May 11, 2012

There are 35 days to go until the wedding... I am in fast forward mode... I have so much on my to do list today, but thought I'd pop in with a five minute update...

The wedding is right on track. Our pastor has resigned as the officiant (long story) so the kids are calling a friend of a friend who is a pastor today and plan to meet with him as soon as possible. Other then that we are right on schedule... The veil is finally here and seeing it on her last night made me cry.

As for the youth group stuff (see here to get caught up). We were scheduled to meet with the pastor this past Wednesday, but because we sent out a letter to him and and the leadership recounting what had happened that Tuesday and our thoughts and feelings on it, he (the pastor) has decided to wait another week to meet with us. His justification is that one couple who are part of the leadership are on vacation, and he won't meet with us until they are back in town. He still has not told us what we are accused of... The thing he didn't take into account is that other people know, and the speed of gossip in churches rivals the speed of light. We are pretty sure we know what the accusation is and believe me when I tell you, it is a misunderstanding and if it had been handled in a biblical way it would have been resolved with one conversation. It may have taken a bit longer for hurt feeling to recover, but by now we would have been well on our way. We are even pretty sure we have figured out what the pastor's motivation is... He will have to answer to a higher authority for his actions in this who debacle...

Where does this leave us? Well, I can't say at this juncture, but I don't believe things will ever be the same. What about the teens you ask? My heart breaks for them. We are doing our best to direct them into other student ministries in the area.

Thanks for listening,

  1. Oh, my friend, these are hard times.

But joyful ones, too. So excited with/for you about the wedding - it's coming so fast!

We're not there yet, but I feel something of the bittersweet joy of "launching" one out of the nest. All is as it should be,

  2. Prayers prayers prayers! I am so sorry you're having to deal with all of this at such an emotional time in your lives.

Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.

    God is always with you.

  3. I'm glad you found someone else to officiate so quickly. No need to drag that drama into the wedding or have any of you feel weird on such a special day.

I'm sorry to hear that the youth group situation hasn't been resolved yet. Too bad that everyone else seems to know what's going on except you. It may take the students awhile to get over what has happened but I'm sure how you and Paul are handling it will make a big impact on them too.

  4. Ugh. Your "situation" sounds like a hot, stinky pile. I am so sorry. Glad you have other, happy things to focus on!
