Busy Signal...

Thursday, May 29, 2014

You remember that annoying busy signal we used to get when we'd call someone and they were on the phone? (Way back before call waiting and voice mail) You would probably hear that signal coming from me these days... Yes, my life is once again feeling like a total whirlwind!

I realize I never finished my vacation posts... By the time I was to the end of them I was prepping for my trip to Montana with Allison and had run out of time... So I will give everyone the "Cliff-Notes" version of what we have been up to for today and try to fill in the details later...

Day six-seven of our trip to Seattle was our final day in Friday Harbor... We spent the morning figuring out an error on a purchase I had made the day before. I bought a carving for $480 and he accidentally charged me $4800 for it... He had reversed the charge but it set off some kind of alarm at the credit card company and the froze our card... The one we were traveling on!!! I had our debit card but we needed to fix it right away. We went back to the gallery and the owner was so helpful even if the credit card company wasn't very helpful... I keep typing mean things about the IQ's of the people on the other end of the phone and erasing them deciding that I am being too mean... Let's just say they were not the brightest bulbs but once the gallery owner threatened to call his lawyer to see if he could fix the problem we got upgraded to someone who had the whole thing fixed in about 15 minutes!
After that we went whale watching as it was part of the package we booked at our hotel... I wasn't really in the mood but I am glad we went... Here are some photos of our trip up into Canadian waters...

Here is our captain.. Captain Hobbs...
A British ex-pat who has been in these waters for over twenty years...
And when you go whale watching in this neck of the woods you are looking to see orca whales...

And we were lucky enough to find see some!

It was very cool...

The last part of the trip was the getting home part... We survived!

The next trip to Montana was wonderful and I do plan to do a post on it...

Here is the view from our friend's living room window...

Both Allison & I had a good time and I was glad for this time alone with her as she is about to head back that way and my one on one time will become very limited!

We had some delays with our return flight so we got home a day late... Not really a big problem except my new sofa I bought back in March was scheduled to arrive that day... We had set up a 2 PM delivery which should have given us plenty of time but when we arrived at the house the truck was in the driveway at 11:30 AM!! Ugh... I didn't even have time to take a breath and they were offloading it!

This is basically what I got in a different fabric and it has one more seat on the end that is shorter in the picture... You can see it here if you don't want to wait for my pictures of the actual one I got... I chose the "performance tweed" in "latte" for my slipcover...

Also, you will start seeing some changes around here... You see my husband got me a blog makeover for mother's day! My good friend Nina did my current blog design a few years ago and although I do like it, like my living room it was time for something new... I am working with a designer and the new design should be done soon!

The final new thing is we FINALLY got the much talked about second vehicle just yesterday! We got a really good deal on a Toyota Camery and took it... It is a few years old but in awesome shape... The plan is for us to use it for a year while Paul takes his time making up his mind and finding the truck he actually wants (apparently these things can't be rushed...) then we will send this car off with Allison next year for her to have a car for school. (She will have to do without for her freshman year... I have assured her she will survive!)

I have to run... I need to register said car and do TONS of laundry as the girlies and I are off to a women's retreat this weekend! Yay!!

Thanks for listening,

  1. Yay - good to see you back up-and-posting :D I'm glad you got to see whales - there are a lot of them around, but finding them is hit and miss. And OH THAT PICTURE OUT YOUR FRIEND'S WINDOW... I could love Montana *sigh*

Sounds like you're on a whirlwind of new - new places, new experiences, new stuff - fun!

  2. Whew! Good thing the credit card thing didn't completely derail your vacation! I hate it when things like that happen. I have never been to Montana but I hear it's stunning. Oh, and I love new furniture and cars! LOL

  3. Oh my!! I had no idea that your day without us was so eventful! Handsome kept asking me if you saw whales. Do glad you did! We haven't seen then up close in a few months. So sorry about the error with your beloved wall hanging. Maybe the guy changed his mind, since he loved it so dad gum much. Hehe. I adore your new blog design! Very cute!!! Sorry you've been so busy, hopefully the women's retreat was a refreshing time for you!
